Video Poem on Atticus Review

Image54e4fc560169

Super excited to announce that Atticus Review has published my video poem, When They Came For Us, on their website. This is my second video poem and both of them have found a home on the internet with literary journals. My first one, Threadbare, with Prick of the Spindle. This encourages me to create more video poems as more online journals are interested in multi-media forms. Also, it’s tons of fun.

Short Movie Excerpt from Mama & the Hungry Hole

I wanted to do something a little different. Readings can be difficult to focus on, sometimes even dull. I wanted to change things up a bit. Though I wanted to do something multi-media, I also wanted to keep it simple and easy. So, I made a movie that was exclusive for the book tour, but now available to the public. This is an excerpt from my novella. It is one of three original fairy tales and told from a young child’s point-of-view.

Video Poem on Prick of the Spindle

I don’t know how long it will be there, could be a month more, could be three months, but I do know, right at this moment, my video poem, Threadbare is featured on the home page of Prick of the Spindle. I don’t think they archive their videos so this is a brief performance. I feel really honored. They put me right at the top of the page so you can see my silly mug just by pressing play.  If you are reading this post too late and it is no longer there, you can always watch it on Vimeo, too. But Prick of the Spindle is cooler, don’t you think?

Movie Poem: Threadbare

21st Century Vox was a great success. A lot of work went into the production of it and I want to say thanks to everyone who participated or came to the show. We even made a few dollars, enough to put towards doing this crazy event again! Here is the movie poem that I played at the event:

Hilltop Poetry Salon Live — July 2012

So, due to tech issues, my movie poem, Sweet Dreams, would not play with the sound at the original Hilltop Poetry Salon. Instead, DJ Shaphan Laos accompanied me while I read the poem. So, it is not totally synced up. Also, the recording is horrible. Still, I thought I’d share it just for fun.

We are having another Salon next week, The Living Room Tapes and have invited all forms of artists to participate. We hope to do some more recordings and I will post some here.

Sweet Dreams: a video poem

I made this for the Hilltop Poetry Event, but there were some tech issues and the sound didn’t work. The event turned out amazing and we hope to do it again soon. I also hope to have some video footage of the event up soon. Meanwhile, here is the video poem…

Neil Gaiman’s Inspiring Words: Make Good Art

Reading at the Verse/Converse Poetry Festival

Had a great time at the Verse/Converse Poetry Festival this weekend in Taos, New Mexico. Took an inspiring workshop in the morning  with Lynne Prosope and Roger Bonair-Agard. Read with the Zanni Crew, Michael Ferrara and Ned Dougherty, in the afternoon. (Thanks to them for including me.)

If you missed the reading, here are two short videos of me performing my first poem and then my final poem. (I read four.) Sorry for the low quality. It was filmed on a point and shoot camera.
