The Full Story
About
I’m Johanna DeBiase, an author, collage artist, teacher, yoga instructor and writing coach, living off grid in Northern New Mexico.
My work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies and has received several writing awards. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and am the author of the novella Mama & the Hungry Hole and the poetry chapbook Gestation.
Through both my art, writing and teaching, I examine how creative practice can help us navigate the complexities of living on a changing planet.

Books & Portfolio
Johanna's writing reflects a deep curiosity about the ways environment and identity intertwine, how the ecological mirrors the emotional, and how storytelling can restore our sense of belonging in a time of uncertainty.
Books
Mama & the Hungry Hole: a surreal ecofeminist novella exploring motherhood and transformation.
Gestation: a poetic examination of pregnancy though a seasonal lense.

Art
As a collage and mixed-media artist, Johanna creates digital and fine art paper collages to explore themes of impermanence, intuition, and interconnectedness. Her visual art often echoes her writing—surreal narratives stitched together through image, color, and emotion.
She has exhibited her work in galleries and her art has appeared on the cover of literary journals, creating pieces that serve as both meditation and ecofeminist reflection.
